Presbytere de Valfleury
(Valfleury, France)

The village is located on a ledge Valley Gier at the end of the Monts du Lyonnais . Saint-Étienne is 16 km from  Lyon.

There was an ancient chapel dedicated to the Virgin which flowed a healing source. Our Lady of Valfleury was found, on Christmas Eve, shortly before the year 800. A shepherd saw a broom blossoms in the middle of a snow field. Having dismissed the branches, he found the statue of the Virgin seated, holding her child on her lap. The priest carried into the church, and the next day she was found in a bush ... which will be erected a chapel.

History

Benedictine monks established a priory there and called the place "valley flowers"

In 1625, the Congregation of Saint Vincent de Paul succeeded them. They establish a mission house and took care of the pilgrimage church erected in 1809.

Again just a Christian symbol bind to the rock, the ancient source, as if the ancient places of worship could not be separated from the new. The same forces of the earth and the sky give special places in succession over time. Many spontaneous healings and miracles listed in the last centuries demonstrate the importance of Valfleury.
