Basilica of Our Lady of Suyapa Patron or Notre Dame de Suyapa
In the eighteenth century was found the image of the Virgin of Suyapa, by Alejandro Colindres, the first image was venerated in a chapel built for it in the village of Suyapa erected in 1780, not far from San Míguel of Tegucigalpa. In 1925 the Virgin of Suyapa, Honduras was declared patron saint, by Pope Pius XII . In 1943 the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa , Monsignor Emilio Morales Roque decided and ordered the construction of a new cathedral to the Virgin of Suyapa, which had previously been stolen in 1936. Architecture of the Basilica
 
The style of the Basilica of Suyapa is modern, painted all in white. Its design is Latin cross , With dimensions is able to accommodate the crowds that pilgrimage to Suyapa, is 93 meters long, 43 meters high in their towers and 46 meters at the top. The diameter of the latter is 11.50 meters. And the width of the nave is 13.50 meters.
