Our Lady of the Green Scapular (Blangy-Versailles, France)
Commemorated on January 28
History
In the Rue du Bac in Paris is the Convent of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. People around the world will there to pray in the chapel and ask for the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin.
Her fame began in 1830, when St. Catherine Laboure experienced visions of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. During the course of these views, the Virgin promised that all who were there with immense Fe receive graces through her intercession, through of her Divine Son.
The story of the Green Scapular begins in the same chapel, but nine years later, and another sister, Justina Bisqueyburu. It is to her that Our Lady of the Scapular Green appeared.
VISIONS OF SISTER JUSTINA
Sister Justina Bisqueyburu born on November 11, 1817, in the town of Mauleon, in the lower Pyrenees of France. He spent his early years with his mother's sister.
His life at the time was simple, like any girl her age.
When he turned 22, Justina joined the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul , a very popular and widespread Congregation in France, and founded on the great principles of spirituality and love of the great 'Monsignor Vicente', which was like a he was referring to. The Convent of the Congregation was in the Rue du Bac in Paris, a busy street in the heart of the commercial area of the city.
After arrival at the convent, Justina began experiencing mystical graces and supernatural manifestations.
The January 28, 1840, during his retirement novitiate being silently praying in the chapel of the convent, appeared, startling, the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Mother of God has a long white silk dress exposing her feet. Above the dress had a robe of palest blue. Her hair fell softly around her shoulders and was not covered by a veil. Sister noted that the hands of the Blessed Virgin were folded to his chest and holding the Immaculate Heart, which came out blazing flames. The Mother of God said nothing.
This view was repeated at the end of the withdrawal of Sister Justina and five more times during the course of his novitiate. On each occasion, the Blessed Virgin said nothing and the details of each view were identical.
After making her first vows, Sister Justina was sent to the village of Blangy to work there with the Sisters of the Congregation. Shortly after his arrival, the sisters gathered to celebrate the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sister Justina was meditating in prayer in this celebration. Suddenly I had a new vision, this time different from the past.
The Blessed Virgin appeared to him dressed as at other times: in a dress of white silk covered with pale blue cloak, and her hands holding the Immaculate Heart, resplendent with the most intense and dazzling flames coming from it. But, I had something different in his left hand he held what appeared to be a Scapular or badge of some kind.
During this vision will be unveiled by an inner revelation the meaning of this apparition. It was revealed that the Scapular of the Immaculate Heart would be a powerful tool for the conversion of souls, particularly those who have no faith, and through him, the Blessed Virgin obtained for them through his Son, the grace of a death in 'Grace of God'.
He was also informed religious desire of the Mother of God of the Scapular was spread everywhere for these special graces, reach all souls who embrace this devotion.
Always humble and cautious, and distrustful of herself, Sister Justine feared that what she had experienced was just the product of his imagination. He told these experiences to his superior, and asked him not to say anything. However, I also asked her if she considered necessary, tell him what had happened to the Spiritual Director.
On two subsequent occasions, this vision of the Green Scapular religious was repeated and realized that he must tell all to her spiritual director. responsible for the spiritual direction Aladel Priest was Father-Sister Justine who did not know, he was intimately involved in the spread of the Miraculous Medal, being also Spiritual Director of another Sister of the Order, Catherine Labouré.
Much needed insight and prudence is exercised, which caused delays in the manufacture and spread of the Green Scapular. In fact, in subsequent visions, Our Lady complained about the long wait to have made and distributed the Scapular, after all, every moment of delay, opportunities were lost.
Sister Justine maintained a veil of silence about these events and speak of them with only those persons directly responsible for spiritual preparation. And so, Sister Justina was seen only as a compassionate with those who needed his help humble and faithful religious Sister, like many others, faithful to the Rule, obedient to those whose authority was above her, and. At the end of his religious training, Sister Justina quietly devoted most of his years in several hospitals in the Congregation in France, and was later remembered as a diligent, capable, compassionate and gentle Sister. Description
Unlike other icons to wear, it had a square of fabric only instead of two. The square of cloth was tied with green laces.
It was an image of the Virgin in the same way it had appeared to Sister Justina in previous visions, holding in his right hand her Immaculate Heart.
When you flip the image, the religious saw "a Heart burning with more dazzling than the sun and as transparent as crystal ray." Heart was pierced by a sword and surrounded by a sentence in oval shape, and on top of oval , a cross of gold. The sentence reads: "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death." Green Scapular does not require any particular formula but a simple blessing endowment of any Catholic priest. Unlike other scapulars which make it necessary to wear them, the Green Scapular may be p ince or be with one, and even to have one's belongings.
Prayer found in the Scapular should be prayed at least daily. If the person for whom these graces are looking does not say the prayer then be made by the person who delivered the Scapular or it has put in scope.
For various reasons the implementation of the dissemination plan of the Scapular suffered long delays, so that the Blessed Virgin Sister Justina complained several appearances between 1840 and 1846. Finally, overcome all obstacles, the logo was distributed to give through them admirable conversions and even physical healings.
Approval
Finally, scapulars began to be manufactured and distributed by the Sisters in Paris, then across France and beyond. To this end, the Sisters had received formal approval and the impetus of His Holiness, Pope Pius IX in 1870.
Graces of the Scapular
Particular thanks are to induce this Sacramental and delve into the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of hearts and souls.
Also, this Scapular was given by Our Lady, especially as a gift for the sick. You can put on your clothes, in your bed or in your room. If the person to whom it applies not say the short prayer, the parent who provided the scapular must say it for the sick.
The wonders that are obtained through them are in proportion to the confidence of the person giving it, this means the rays of different sizes out of the hands of the Blessed Virgin in his last appearances.
The wonders that produced this scapular witness the blessing and fulfillment of the promise of the Virgin at all with it and say the short prayer and "will make great conversions, particularly to achieve a good death for sinners and those who have no faith ".
Among the favors obtained cite the following:
A sick, enemy of all religion , that was put to the frenetic single visit of a priest, accepted a Green Scapular on September 19, 1842. Eleven days later, leaving the dining room was removed the next room, fell to his knees and taking the Green Scapular, whom he called his "Agent middleman", kissed and bathed in tears, vowing to Our Lady confession in the end of a week . This term seemed very long because the next day received the Sacraments.
In 1844, a boy aged 14 , of depraved habits, received the Badge of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and within days his conversion took place.
In Constantinople , Greek became a schismatic by this Green Badge of the Immaculate Heart while he was cured of a horrible leprosy.
Many similar examples can be cited. Green Badge was approved twice by Pope Pius IX in 1863 and 1870. His words were: "Write to these good Sisters that I authorize them to make and distribute" .
