erhaps it is the party with more roots and tradition of Ruesga. It is held in early September in the Valley, starting the celebration with a solemn mass and a popular pilgrimage, to which one goes on pilgrimage, even from as far away as Ruesga Noja, Santoña or Laredo. Subsequently, on September 14, the "milagruco" where a bazaar of local products installed celebrated.
 
 
 
The legend of "milagruco".
 
The milagruco has an associated legend, which places the origin of this celebration in the chestnut of Vegacorredor and this place in the past a gathering of witches. One night, around a pilgrimage by a Biscay to the Virgin of the Miracle soldiers, in this place by the river saw tongues of fire. As you approach them, witnessed these witches coven, invoked God and charged them making them flee.
 
The next day, when the event was known, people came joyful to chestnut, where the ashes were still smoldering, finding a large copper cauldron and several phials, which was buried in the same place. Since then, every year is celebrated in this place a pilgrimage, very popular and known throughout the region.
 
The other villages in the municipality also celebrate their feasts: Riba, Santa Ana and San Valentín on 26 and 27 July; In Ogarrio, St. Michael the Archangel on September 29; In Mentera, San Esteban on August 3; In Matienzo, Our Lady of the Rosary on the first Sunday of October and San Martin on 11 November.

Approaching observed the sabbath , they invoked God and charged them making them flee. Known fact the next day , people started to come to chestnut overjoyed , where the ashes were still smoldering , and found a large copper cauldron and several vials , to which were given at the same point land. Since then , every year the custom of celebrating in that field a pilgrimage they called the ' Milagruco ' , which goes the neighborhood of Branches of Victoria in family groups and in which , legend has it took many estranged couples flock to the place and arranged . Some people believe in witches rout spilled by some potion of land used as ' love potions ' .
