Madonna del Bosco / Our Lady of the Woods, Imbersago, Como, Lombardia, Italy

Commemorated on May 9
Madonna del Bosco / Our Lady of the Woods, Imbersago, Como, Lombardia, Italy
Three shepherds, one named Peter, saw the Madonna near a large tree, a chestnut tree to be exact. Then they testified that the apparition rose up and disappeared into the sky.

They were believed because that chestnut was found full of fruit out of season. In 1632 at the site visited by the Virgin a chapel was erected, then replaced with a real church in 1677. In it we honor what is called the Madonna del Bosco (The Our Lady of the Woods).

Two years before some had seen, in the same place, a lady bathed in light hovering on top of those chestnut trees, and heard beautiful songs come from the spot of the apparition.

The sightings occur near the source of the so-called wolf, which reflects in the name of the presence of these animals that infested the region, more precisely in Imbersago, in the province of Lecco, on the banks of the Adda in front of the Grigna and the jagged granite.
