Nossa Senhora do Rocio In the 1600s, an African or native fisherman named Pai Berê found in his net a statue which settlers identified as Our Lady of the Dew, the beloved Virgin of Andalucia in southern Spain. Over the years many miracles and healings were attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of the Dew in this area along the south coast of Brazil. History

The Day of Our Lady of Rocio is celebrated in honor of the Virgin of Rocio , one of the patron state of Paraná , on November 15th and its festivities take place in the city of Paranaguá (Paraná coast), more specifically, in the Church of Rocio ( Shrine of the Patron of Paraná).
 
The event starts on November 6th and lasts until the 15th. Currently the party is composed of two parts: the religious, with novenas, outdoor Mass and procession, and popular with gastronomic events, art show and craft fairs and fireworks.

Description

The cult of the Virgin began in the mid- seventeenth century , shortly after the elevation of Villa de Paranaguá. Faith parnanguara the virgin rose after the 1680s , when the little town was ravaged by the Plague Bicha and so Blessed Mother was invoked to rid the village of this whining about what happened and was assigned to virgin this miracle.
 
A shrine was built in the name of Blessed Mother in front of Paranaguá Bay and near the beach where the image was found by fishermen. In 1977 Pope Paul VI declared Our Lady of Rocio Patroness of Paraná.
 
Over time to worship occurred in distinct phases, however, from a certain moment was chosen the date of November 15 to venerate our Blessed Mother.

Approval

In 1977 the Catholic bishops and Pope declared her patron of the state of Paraná, where her feast day is celebrated annually on November 15.
